Why or why not?

14. Reread Captain Beatty’s monologue (pp.57-59). Discuss his view that school cultivates anti-intellectual sentiment (p.58). In your opinion does it accurately depict your high school? Do books violate the idea that ”everyone is made equal” (p.58)?
15. Why does Montag feel “fat”?

1. Ray Bradbury started his novel with the line it was pleasure to burn because the community in the story hated reading books so basically everyone hated books so much that it was more pleasurable to burn them than to read them.

2. Ray Bradbury compared books and birds to create imagery to basically state that books are as necessary to the world as birds are.

3. Clarisse and Monatag are very different because Montag never actually thought about why society has become what its become until after he met Clarisse because of her curiosity unlike being like everyone else in the dystopia thinks.

4. I think technology does change Mantags life because technology can change anybodies life for both good and bad. The technology in the novel is very comparable because half the stuff thats been brought up in the fighting

5. I think we were introduced to Montag at that point of his life to show how messed up it was.

6. It looks as if the author decided to introduce us to Clarisse first because she has ideas that she shows Montag and it makes him think, while mildred is the problem why Montag is the way he is.

7. Houses in this society were fireproof because firemen would burn down books only and they need the fireproof houses to not get burned.

8. Mildred needed medical help because she had overdosed

9. The mechanical hound is a robot dog that helps officers hunt down criminals.

10. I feel like the society calls Clarisse anti-social so noone talks to her or incase if someone does they'll think shes talking nonsense about the world.

11. The woman lit up the house so she could kill herself instead of the society killing her.

12. The relationship between Mildred and Montag is full of unhappiness.

13. The purpose for Beatty's visit was to inform Montag that books are worthless even though Mantag has already felt like they were.
